LI NEAR - [NO] L INE ON THE HOR I ZON

Inspired by nature and the music of U2's 'No Line On The Horizon', a very special one to me, LI NEAR [NO] L INE  ON THE HOR I ZON came to life as a photographic project in which I tried to translate into images some of my feelings related to each song from their album. 'Linear' is originally the title of Anton Corbjin's film released in 2009 along with the album itself. I thought about using it as a partial title for my project when I realized that what spoke to me the most in the images I shot were the lines of the horizon pictured in them. Indeed, the key to understand why I choose these images lies in the moviment of those lines, even though it's a very personal concept that might not be perceived at all.

It may sound weird that I still dedicated it to No Line On The Horizon when, actually, every photo is about nothing but the outlining, the meeting of the mountains and the sky. Naturally, the landscape has its voice as well. It's about the energy, the beauty, the splendor we can find in the mountains and mountains only and it relates perfectly well to my view on NLOTH. Its magnificence. And just like we need black and white to see someone's soul in a photography, I needed it to be colorless to be able to show all of its power.

I hope it's clear that it is a non-profit personal project and it has no relation to U2 or Anton Corbjin. The pictures and editing are, anyhow, my original work. [Milan, 17th September 2015]

The photos were taken in September 2015, at the Sacra di San Michele, in Val di Susa, Italy.

SMOKE+MIRRORS - PERSONAL PROJECT INSPIRED BY IMAGINE DRAGONS'S ALBUM

This project was born when Imagine Dragons did a contest related to their album, 'Smoke+Mirrors'. I couldn't work on the pictures fast enough before its deadline but as I had never tried portrait photography before, I decided to keep on with my idea.

Every photo represents a song from the album, I tried to picture what I feel when I listen to those songs, somehow. That was not something easy to do but I had my sister to model for me and she did great! As a first try on portrait photography I'm kinda happy with the results and this project is pretty special to me.

The photos were taken in March 2015, at the Path of God in Positano, Italy.

LET THE FOREST HEAR OUR SOUND

Inspired by Imagine Dragons's debut album, Night Visions, I created a photographic project to express through flowers and leaves my love for their music. It's a very personal idea and interpretation of their album. I took and edited a picture to every single song, I chose my favorite lyrics from each one of them and ended up using Rocks's lyrics to name this project.

All of the photos were taken and edited by me. Milan, 23rd October 2015

IT'S WHAT I CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND

Inspired by music - surprise! - I played a little with my most recent shots, trying to bring to the editions kind of an old photography style, the burned pictures and the dirt, because, for some reason, the albums I've chosen this time are somehow nostalgic to me, so I thought mixing old and new would fit well. I also allowed myself to use colours, something that hardly ever happens, so it was a new experience and it was pleasant to realise that I can relate to more than just the greyscale.

The U2 album that first inspired me for this project is All That You Can't Leave Behind, but then Wide Awake In America came to my mind and I decided I had to work with both of them together. The result is a personal connection between my pictures and some of my favorite U2 lyrics.

ƎE

Music, once more. The main idea here was to focus on my favorite lyrics in all the songs in Imagine Dragons's new album, Evolve, and connect them to some of my photographs - very original of me! Some are old, some are very recent, none of them were taken especially for this project, I wanted to work with what I already had, some of my favorite shots. Like always, the meaning behind each connection is personal and not necessarily expresses an obvious purport.

All of the photos were taken and edited by me. Songs and lyrics by Imagine Dragons.

JUPTA

In 2015 I had the pleasure to be invited by a good friend of mine to create the artwork of his band's, Jupta, first Ep, 'Eclipse'. The band originally was named Ares, later to become AresV and finally Jupta. I started by sketching my ideas, putting them on paper, inspired by the songs that would be put on the Ep.

It was a very different experience to me because I hardly ever work with Photoshop to create my artworks, but in 'Eclipse' I had not only to draw but also to make it entirely on Photoshop and it was very challenging, but I'm very satisfied with the result.

A fun fact about this project: copies of 'Eclipse' were given to the rock band Muse and the entire band liked and approved the artwork. I couldn't be prouder!

Later, I'd also work on the artwork of their first album, 'Babel' (2016) and their second Ep, 'Marco Zero' (2017).
